Remy is a gorgeous looking carp lake, set in the heart of a forest around 4 hours from Calais. The setting is wild & undisturbed with overhanging trees, lilies & fringes of reeds around the perimeter. The surrounding woodland is rich in flora and fauna with deer, wild boar and a myriad of other birds and animals. It’s around 25 acres and accommodates up to 10 anglers on 5 double swims. It can be booked exclusively but individual bookings are welcome too.

Here’s some feedback from the 2008 season;

"48 fish were caught over the week, lots of 20's and a 36lb mirror to Paul Fulcher and I had a 47lb 2oz mirror which are new PB's for both of us."
Paul Hodgins, September 2008

"We had 79 fish between us... 6 x fish upper 20`s, 6 x 30`s and a new PB of 45lb for myself. Returned again as we fished Remy last September. We had 95 carp last year, so both times have been great times. I’ve already book to fish another venue... if i hadn’t i would have been going back to Remy!"
Brian Heywood, September 2008

The lake is fairly deep at the dam wall end, going to about 3m. There's a feeder stream running down the length of the lake bed so it has the classic features of gentle slopes to the centre with shallow water at the top end. There's a number of lily beds which not only add to the beauty of Remy but also provide good fish holding features to fish to. There are no boats allowed... but baitboats are OK.

When you fish Remy you get lots of room - there's just 5 double swims in 25 acres! They're all easily large enough to accommodate two anglers and have been gravelled to provide extra comfort.

Access is via a track through the forest which can get muddy in wet weather – but it’s fine with care. Park your car in the small parking area that's situated at the corner of the lake. Pegs 4 & 5 can be reached by car as there’s a track which runs alongside the lake. However, this is badly rutted so you need to exercise great caution or you may damage your vehicle. Certainly in wet weather it becomes very muddy and you can easily get stuck… so it's best to walk to your peg. We would certainly recommend you take a tackle barrow with you to Remy.

Remy is a carp anglers paradise set in wonderful woodland scenery, but the lakeside facilities are very basic. Because it is set well off the main road in a conservation area there is no running water or electricity and the small wooden toilet block at the entrance is of the traditional French style - little more than a hole in the ground and not very pleasant. However, additional facilities, which include a hot shower, toilet, kitchen and sleeping quarters are available in the nearby village (2-3 minutes by car). Alternatively you could use the main club house on the owners other lake which is about ten minutes away by car.

Remy is owned by one of France's most respected fish farmers, Patrick Bachelier. It's no surprise therefore that the lake holds an excellent head of large carp. In fact it's stock is quite exceptional with numerous fish over the 35lb mark. As you would expect given that the owner is a fish farmer, Remy is regularly drained to control the fish stocks so it's possible to be reasonably accurate when stating stocks. In total the lake holds at least 330 carp, the largest over 50lb.

There's also a small head of catfish.  In the height of summer (July / August) crayfish can cause a problem by attacking your hookbaits - but they are only a problem in these months.  Be prepared to use harder boilies & net your hookbaits in these months.  There are a number of excellent articles & a video on this site showing you how to combat them.  There are no poissons chats as far as we are aware.
