Dates: 17th to 24th May 2008
Number of persons fishing: 3
Brief details of your catches:
We had 37 Carp and 2 big bream. 11 over 20lb to 27.2. for a total weight of 650lb and an average of 17lb 8oz
They were all in very good condition and real fighters.
One of the fish was my first Ghost common of 20.12. Also a PB of 26.10 for Alan.
We caught almost 3 commons for every mirror but the mirrors were the hardest fighting mirrors we have ever caught.
What did you find were the best tactics/baits?
Find a spot and keep bait going in.
We caught on Quest Rahja Spice, Quest Irish cream, and Maple 8, for the first half of the week. We then caught well on giant corn and tiger combo. Possibly due to the amount of maize and hemp we used for baiting.
Were the facilities what you expected? Better
Were you happy with them? Very
Would you recommend venue to a friend? Already have
Would you recommend our services to a friend? Yes always
General comments:
3rd trouble free trip with Angling Lines (cheers Bridget) pass our thanks on to the rest of the team
We fished pegs 9, 10, 11. Although we had booked 10, 11, 12, Bruno said it would be easy to fish 9, 10, and 11 together as 12 is a good way off and we like to fish together as our trips are about the social as well as the fishing. We looked for areas of gravel or depth changes to fish to. The 2 main areas being from peg 11 straight out to the right of swim 3, just under half way out.
From10, far left of swim cast towards bell tower 35 – 40 metres. You are actually fishing in peg 9. The third area was from far right of swim 11 facing peg 12, cast towards middle of the lake marker on the shower block bank about 40metres.
Here the bottom was clay.
To be honest every hook bait we used caught except snowman rigs.
You must be patient and get a spot going with regular bait. We did notice a change with giant corn and tiger nut out caught boilies but we were baiting heavily with maize and hemp so it could be that the fish were looking for the particles.
Size 6 hooks, about 7-9 inches long. Bigger boilies caught better than small.
Get your bread and pasties from the van that comes round every day but Monday. You will be missing out if you don’t!!
We had such a good time we want to go back next year and get a sturgeon.
We had no problems wit the French or Belgian anglers on the lake and the owner is a really nice bloke. He does not speak English but it was not a problem.
Cheers! See you next year Bruno!
