What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Keeping your lines out of the water for as long as possible.

General comments: Laroussi is a big fish water. In my opinion it is over fished like most commercial caro waters and that can easily be seen by the average weekly results. The fish only have to see a line and you can kiss your bites goodbye. Only 8 carp caught by 7 anglers on our week (the other 5 were good anglers!). Also the sturgeon are a complete nuisance, always giving you false indications and with barbless hooks you simply don't know what to strike at. Mehdi is a really nice guy but did not once come around the lake to see the anglers and offer advice. Not what you expect from an onsite bailiff, especially when conditions are so tough. Lovely place, big fish but you will need to be very lucky to catch the right week when they have their guards down. Would go again.

Were you happy with them? Not really, in the swim we were fishing (le chante) was full of rats every night, they ran up and down the rods making your alarms beep. You can't reach the far bank, it's too far to cast to (approx 220 yards) and the fish use it as a safety zone. You need to use a bait boat

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes, the actual water and the fish are first class apart from the above

General comments: If the above problems were addressed it would be one of the best French venues we have visited, and we have been to quite a few. If the rat problem isn't addressed soon the lake will be over run.

Brief details of your catches: We went to Laroussi for the first time and were buzzing with expectations. We knew there were some real monsters in the lake so we had a chance. We ended up on Le Anse. We had a great week. We didn't catch a lot of fish. (The week before us there were 53 fish caught) In our week in total there were 17 fish caught.... we had 7 of them!! The weights were: 50.0, 43.0, 2 x 38.0, 24.0, 23.0, and 23.0 My mate Clemens caught his new PB with the 50lb mirror, well done mate!! We all caught our fish between 10 and 6 in the morning

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We fished with scopex boilies, we fished only with boilies. We first looked for hard gravel patches and clipped all rods and fished on those harder patches all week long.

General comments: We had a terrific week overall. We had a lot of laughs, lots of barbeques and beer between us.. Medhi is a really nice bloke (prutser!). The swims are really big, you have plenty of room to put your rods in. Thanks for a great week, Rob and Clemens

General comments: All of us could have done with a bit of help and support during the week but the owner was off elsewhere fishing, didn't see him all week.Too much bait thrown in previous weeks, one half of lake totally dead. Party blend was gone off after 2 days, which stunk the whole swim out, not too pleased about that.

General comments: As we were staying for two weeks, we were not amused when Medi told us we would be expected to vacate our swim on Saturday and re- draw for our second week. After a lot of discussion and bad feelings this did not happen. But for future reference this should be made clear to all persons staying for more than 1 week. No angler should be compelled to vacate his swim unless he wishes to do so. If I had been aware of this I would not have gone and would not go again if I thought this may happen. A lovely venue and a wonderful holiday. **** NOTE FROM ANGLING LINES***** On any venue where a peg draw normally takes place an angler staying for 2 weeks should not expect to keep the same swim. If the owner allowed this it simply would not be fair to the new anglers arriving. It may be that the new anglers are happy for the 2 week anglers to keep their swim ... but this cannot be assumed and if required you will have to enter the peg draw. This is the only fair way.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits:  Fish were ready for spawning they were sitting in the little bays so the people in those swims were catching really well. We were fishing right out into open water. Unfortunatly all the swmis were taken so we couldn't move.

Brief details of your catches: I only had 1 catch myself, but smashed my PB with a 49.0. Lovely quality fish.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: The lads thought i was silly but i caught him on plastic pop up corn.

General comments: Laroussi is an excellent "Big fish" water. Fishing can be hard and slow but if your willing to work hard , find features, the rewards of a "Fish of a lifetime" can be found here. The owner Mehdi is a great guy, happy , friendly and full of informations and tips about the lake. "Top week fishing". We'll be back. Mehdi : Top Scottish angling ! 3 fifties !
