Name of customer:  Jamie Simpson

Venue:  Grosley

Date of holiday: 03-05-2008 to 10-05-2008

No. of persons fishing: 3

Brief details of your catches: We fished pegs 3, 4 and 15. Kev caught 6 fish from peg 3 all upper doubles. Jason caught 8 fish from peg 4 to 34lb 12oz. Jamie caught 31 fish to 26lb 2oz from peg 15

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Very difficult fishing conditions due to a very sudden up turn in temperature where the fish took the opportunity to spawn. Most fish were caught tight to the margins and the island. Pellet and hemp attracted the Bream so just boilies and a bait boat comes in handy for accuracy. We were using Questbaits Rahja Spice and Crab boilies in 15mm and 18mm sizes. We saw a few of the bigger fish during the week in the back channel behind pegs 12,13 and 14 and a probable mid forty basking in the margin along the spit in front of peg 19 so they are definately in there. In better conditions I am confident someone will have a few of the bigger residents out.

Were the facilities what you expected? Better than expected

Were you happy with them? Extremely

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Definately

Would you recommend our services to a friend? 100% yes

General comments: A wonderful venue with excellent facilities in the form of on-site restaurant, toilet and showers. It was tricky fishing the week we went due to spawning and I’m certain that without that we’d have had even better results.

General comments: Jim Kelly and myself arrived at Grosley large lake in a 30 mph cold Northerley wind. The wind calmed later that day, but we then had snow rain and ice over the next 4 days. On 3 mornings we woke to all our indicators and reels being frozen solid. As you can gather the carp weren't feeding. It was not until the 5th day that I had the first carp. I finished the week with 14 carp in total, 11 doubles to 19lb , a 23lb 8oz carp and an immaculate 40lb 2 ounce mirror carp. All the fish were caught off spodded hemp and 15 mil Quest Rahja Spice shelf life boilies. Jim had 8 carp, 6 twenties and 2 doubles. All the fish were caught in the latter 3 days of our trip when the weather warmed up to between 6 and 9 degrees. I am sure that with better weather conditions we would have caught some of the bigger residents of the lake, and a lot more of them. The lake is at least 25 acres in size and is set in a fully private complex, with its own restaurant, and shower block.

General comments: When I arrived there was a gale force Northely blowing (the later Ferries were cancelled). The next few days there was snow and heavy rain, the temperature did not rise above 4 degrees C on two consecutive days. During the first two nights there was rain/snow followed by a heavy frost. The line froze solid on the reals. needless to say nothing was caught for the first 5 days. When the temperature managed to struggle over 6 degrees I started to catch. I caught 8 carp during the last couple of days to 27 pound plus. All carp were caught from the margins.
